As I'm a week or so behind, this has probably been already answered to
death, but...  For a particular area, go back to the listing of areas
and use the Alt-S, and choose which way you want to sort it.  It changes
the "x of y" number in the header, but not the intrinsic number that
shows at the bottom of the screen in the info bar, or that shows as the
number in the listing of messages you get with the T command while
viewing the messages in the area.

It's also one of the global parameters you can set in your Message Read
Preferences.  Your choices either place are To, From, Subj, and
Unsorted.

Just went through and checked them all out... 'tisn't one of the things
I use, as I'd just as soon have it "unsorted", ie, in the BBS number
order, usually....   :)
