Most ADHDers do NOT outgrow it. If you read Hallowell's books, and the
writings of Barkley, you'll see that it does extend to adulthood.
The increase in the use of prescription meds for ADHD is traceable, in
part, to the acknowledgement of this fact.
What does help is that the child matures, learns coping skills, and how
to handle themselves better. Counselling for child and family is very
helpful. Behavior modification programs are useful.
All work best with medication added in.
