-=> Quoting Dennis Martin to Jim Casto <=-
DM> Hi Jim. I checked the computer at my public library, but they didn't
DM> have any of the books you mentioned. I'll check the school library
DM> sometime this week, when I get a chance.
I'm not surprised. Again, libraries will tend to keep "local" information.
I am surprised that they don't have the "Handbook of North American Indians"
though. That's kinda like not having a set of encyclopedias. BTW, the local
bookstore had (and mat still have) some copies of the particular volume (#7)
for $14. It's usually well over $20 at the government bookstore.
DM> My thinking on this is that the creator put me in that area for a
DM> reason, and due to modern influences, I moved from there.
The "modern influence" that caused my family to leave China was called
World War Two.
DM> It might help me to learn about what the Creator had in mind for me,
DM> as much as why I wound up here in SoCal.
I suppose.
DM> Also, information about the Kumeyyai is much easier to find now.
I suspect that if I interogated any libray system around here I would find
very little on the Kumeyyai. But, Ill check.
DM> They are beginning to reach out into the community more, and
nformation
DM> is flowing better. I still read what I can, when I see it.
It's the historical information I'm looking for, for the most part.
DM> The day I left Washington, (I lived outside of Olympia), I cried. No
DM> job, and one waiting here when I got back. (Shrug) Guess it wasn't
DM> meant to be.
When I got out of the Navy in 1958, Oregon was in a deep recession and my
parents had already moved to SoCal. I went down there for a job and spent
en
years trying to found a way out. When the opportunity came, it took us about
ten minutes to pack. (Well, not really. ) I have since been back on one
(maybe two) occasions since 1968. I think I would rather be homeless in
Oregon than working and existing in SoCal.
Jim
