GG> Actually, the AL-III is 6 feet tall. There are only two
GG> drivers that cover from 30Hz-20kHz. A 10" down-firing woofer, mounted
GG> in a hexagonal enclosure covers from 30Hz-150Hz and a 48" dipole
GG> ribbon covers from 150Hz-20kHz.
Only a 10" for the low end? That seems a bit minimal for a speaker that
is 6' tall.
GG> Since the 48" ribbon is only 1" wide,
GG> there is no "beaming" like most other planar speakers and the imaging
GG> is almost pin-point (extremely rare for most planar speaker designs).
That sounds almost comparable to the old Quad ESLs! Those things are
some of the sweetest sounding speakers I have ever heard (if driven by
the right amplifier).
GG> There are also no critical crossover regions, as in multiple planar
GG> driver designs that use more than one planar element (such as from
GG> Apogee & Magnepan).
That sounds good too.
GG> Genesis OEMs both the 48" and the 60" for their 5-figure speaker
lines.
If I had 5 figures to spend on speakers, I'd go with Meyer. Take care.
... If it's professional, it isn't Peavey.
