Hi Troy!
THC> Nothing but mountains around here. Radically different reception just
THC> by moving the antenna a few feet. I live between a couple of
THC> mountains that I guess act as some kind of wave guide, as I can
THC> sometimes pick up transmissions from 100 miles to the south better
THC> than I can pick them up from 20 miles to the west.
Ah yes! Mountains do have a tendency to create a barrier to good reception.
Have you thought about moving to the top of one? Was just back in OH/
PA, my in-laws live on the backside of a hill in a low spot, between 2 sets
f
hills. Everything to the west is unattainable, the east is almost as bad, but
to the north, and south, the reception is quite good, even without an outdoor
antenna. TV reception is the pits too!
THC> I'm about to try the 2042. The local Radio Shack didn't have any in
THC> stock (they say there are only 4 in the entire district) but did order
THC> me one, which should be here Thursday. I'm trading in my 2035 for it.
THC> That's the secret, you know. Never keep a scanner more than 30 days.
THC> :-)
Well, I guess I'm not too old to learn. My trouble is I have a tendency to
become attached to them, and cannot part with them.
THC> My girlfriend has complained of being a computer widow, a videogame
THC> widow, and here lately, a scanner widow. Just the other day, she said
THC> it was good that I hit middle-age crazy so early so I could get it out
THC> of my system...
Can you imagine being married to a scanner nut for 20+ years? Of course,
e've
been married 39 years altogether, so he's used to my craziness! Don't
tell your girlfriend that the scanning bug lasts not only through middle age,
but also many, many more years beyond. In fact I had a friend that was well
into her seventies and still scanning! I can't imagine going to an old folks
home without my scanner. Maybe I should pray for a roomate that is deaf, so
I don't disturb her? It will be a bunch of years before that happens, but
it's best to plan early!
THC> As long as Al remembers to wrap the sales slip with it... :-)
Well, no scanner, but I got more computer memory! I may have lost my mind,
ut
I have lots of memory! *8^) Now my scanner databases can get even more
elaborate, and hold more frequencies!
