The way to run Windows TCP/IP applications on OS/2 is to install TCP/IP
for OS/2 or the Internet Access Kit from your Bonus Pack. This
automatically installs a WINSOCK.DLL. The WINSOCK.DLL provided takes
all of the TCP/IP calls made by DOS+Windows applications and forwards them
to the protected mode TCP/IP drivers in OS/2.
This is why you should *not* use any another WINSOCK.DLL, despite the
hordes of underinformed idiots telling you to do so.
To ensure that DOS and DOS+Windows applications can see the OS/2 TCP/IP
services, ensure that in your Virtual DOS Machines the \TCPIP\DOS\BIN
directory is on your PATH, and that ETC points to \MPTN\ETC.
( Remember : VDMs use AUTOEXEC.BAT for environment variables. )
