Believe it or not, I wasn't particularly offended by Tailhook.....it sounded
sort of like any Saturday night on liberty in the P.I. It was tasteless,
true, but I didn't believe that any careers should have been affected by it.
What does offend me is the apparent uneven application of the UCMJ. If they
winked at Tailhook, they should wink at Lt. Flinn's love life as well. I
don't believe it affected her ability to fly B-52s, any more than Tailhook
attendance affected those naval aviator's abilities to land on an aircraft
carrier.
Gen. Ralston should resign, for no other reason than his forcing a lieutenant
general to retire for actions that he himself was guilty of demonstrates a
severe character flaw.
As for the helicopter pilot who filed the original complaint about Tailhook,
she ultimately resigned her commission.
