I read somewhere that that for whatever strange reason 'uptime' was missing in
the latest Debian procps package.  Not sure why that would be so.

I am not a Debian guru and lack the proper dependencies to create Debian
packages.  I do have a working procps package with 'uptime' available so I know
that it is indeed possible to construct a proper Debian package given the
proper dependencies and tools.  I haven't searched all that hard but if looking
for an existing package make sure that 'uptime' is indeed included.  I notice
at https://packages.debian.org/procps they provide a filelist for whatever
package version is requested and 'uptime' is indeed listed in the one I looked
at.
