True.  I couldn't agree with you more.  However, speaking as a Linux user,
I'd appreciate versions of them aimed squarely at Linux and not merely as a
tool for any preconcieved notion that Linux exists merely as an alternative
to Windows, OR that somehow all users of Linux have some evil, demented
plan to destroy MS, OR - even worse - that somehow Linux users owe Windows
users something by providing them with tools that MS doesn't bother
providing their own customers.  I mean, sure it is fun poking fun of that
situation but there is to be gained by anyone, including Windows users, by
ensuring portability of any software intended for a Unixie enviroment
otherr then to other Unixie enviroments, such as Linux and *BSD.
