Rich,
Reasonable: Take the difference in price for an AMD X2 processor versus non-X2 at
same speed and I would expect to pay what Dell/HP/etc charge for a regular PC plus
the price difference I see for regular AMD versus AMD X2 processors on Pricewatch.
For example, Pricewatch:
http://www.pricewatch.com/cpu/
shows the Athlon 64 x2 3800 dual core at $296 as compared to the Athlon 64
3800 at
$284.
In other words: I want to pay what the biggies would charge if they were selling the
sort of computer I'm looking for. Similarly, the additional cost for a motherboard
that can take 4 gigs isn't much more (in tens of dollars) as compared to one that can
take 2 gigs of RAM.
