When I shifted from dial-up to telnet, there were new spells I had to
learn to get to the bbs's... but at least the bbs itself was the same
as usual... :) Not exactly a seamless change.

But I *am* going on-line and hitting all the commands to get my mail
downloaded, same as always. The only bbs for which that isn't totally
true is Chowdanet, from which I get the packets as email attachments,
which Craig set up earlier when the bbs wasn't really online, but to
make sure that some of us wouldn't be left without our Fido source. I
left it in place as a backup, which has turned out handy right now, when
Chowda can't be accessed again for a while, but I even there often get
the packets directly from the bbs as normal... and I only send out the
reps from there from online, uploading an offline-prepared rep packet.

I haven't yet learned the spells for getting things from the web side of
things, nor am I in any hurry to do so... Telnet works just fine, and
the bbs looks/acts normal once I'm on, so why change....?

No, I'm just an old-fashioned user, that happens to have had to learn
the more modern telnet way of getting TO the bbs... :)
