You can use several macros at once; one for every unassigned key on
the keyboard. I started with the standard Qconfig.dat and began
filling in the unassigned keys starting with F10, F11, F12 then Ctrl
F3 through to Ctrl F9 and then Shift 1 to Shift 9 [on the numeric
keypad]
To make a macro:
-Hit ESC, M, M or just Ctrl M.
-When prompted, assign an unused key. [Keep a list somewhere for
future reference if you make several!]
-Make your macro by entering a series of commands or keystrokes,
including other existing macros if desired.
-Hit ESC, M, M or Ctrl M again to turn off Macro record.
To save your new macro:
-Hit ESC, M, W(rite) and when prompted make a file name with the
extension .mac You can add a [drive and] path if you want it stored in
another directory.
To reload your macro:
-Hit ESC, M, R(ead) and enter your file.mac name when prompted.
To make your macro part of Qedit so you don't have to load it every
session:
- Use the Macro Translator QMAC.EXE to translate your macro file to
a text file. After you save your macro to "file.mac", use F9 or Alt
F9 to get to DOS and execute "qmac file.mac file.txt". Stick the
contents of "file.txt" into your Qconfig.dat file using your editor.
[Make a back up of the original first!] Run Qconfig.exe to update
and your new macro key assignment will now be incorporated into the
editor program.
