Try temporarily yanking the sound card altogether, and =really= get it out of
the way. I never heard of a "dummy DMA", and can't imagine why there would
be jumper selections for DMA 1, 2, and 3 if it wasn't actually going to use
one and require that it be unique. I have certainly seen real DMA conflicts
on the 3C503's from the same time-frame that I have around here.
