The big risk is in the reliability of the NIC, but if you can live with
that, you should be okay. The NE-2000 is a 16-bit card, so you won't
have great speed through there, but the server can use it.
If the server is a busy, production server, adding a NIC will turn it
into a router, which adds to the processor's work, and may slow down
the server. You may benefit from separating the traffic, though, so it
may not be so bad.
