subject: Anyone here do ASP.NET ?

From: "Antti Kurenniemi"

Hoowee,

so I just installed my own server, and since it came with IIS and all that
stuff (it's W2k3 server), I thought I'd take a swing at ASP, and more
specifically ASP.NET. I'm good enough at PHP and many others, but never
done ASP before.

I managed to get everything going (real easy config, and cut some corners
since this box won't be exposed to outside world) and even wrote a few
lines of ASP.NET, which works - wopee. But here's the question: is there a
"local" version of the ASP.NET engine, or do I need to have IIS +
all the rest of the hoopla installed on my development system as well? I
can't always work where I have access to the actual server, so something
should be set up on my laptop for standalone development & testing,
right?

I'm getting some reading on the subject (hopefully) tomorrow, so if the
answer is typically on the first page of any ASP.NET book, feel free to
picture me with an "Ass" hat on, standing in the corner ;-)

TIA,
Antti Kurenniemi
