Well, most PCs built in the last 10 years have had at least 64 MB. On the other hand an Amiga that's maxxed-out at 4 MB must be almost 20 years old by now. What happens when you run out of memory on it? Does it start swapping to disk? Anyway, I know from experience that the GCC compiler (which is used to build HPT on Linux/BSD) is a bit of a memory hog. HPT should be using much less memory in comparison. If GCC will run OK on an Amiga then HPT should too. Keep in mind that HPT isn't a particularly resource-intensive piece of software. It does the same job as SquishMail, where there is a 16-bit version for DOS that happily runs in 640 KB. The 32-bit DOS version only needs 1 MB, if I recall correctly. --- timEd/FreeBSD 1.11.b2* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (3:633/267) SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 @PATH: 633/267 |
