| subject: | Re: Can a PDF have a virus? |
From: Ellen K.
I really find it distressing that there are people in the world who feel
their job in life is to destroy, incapacitate or invade the space of other
people they don't even know. Virus writers and taggers (graffiti writers)
have a lot in common that way.

some like PDF support scripting directly and can be dangerous as a
programming environment, that isn't necessary. What can happen with any
file, and has already happened with jpeg as Rich pointed out, is that the
applications or libraries that process these files can have bugs that are
exploitable to allow code to run.
