   Unless I misunderstood what you're trying to do?

   Well, that's the thing; I got tired of manually writing an areafix or
filefix netmail using a message editor when I wanted to send such a
message: for the common netmails like requesting a list of connected
echos, the only thing that changes are the AKAs and the passwords; so I
just have a short script that posts such netmails...

   Here's an example of what I do:
========================================================================
#!/bin/sh
NT=Areafix
AF=1:120/501
AT=1:120/544
SUBJ=PASSWORD
MSGTXT=/usr/local/lib/f501/n120/afquerymsg.txt
#
/usr/bin/hpt post -nt $NT -af $AF -at $AT -s $SUBJ -f pvt loc k/s $MSGTXT

========================================================================

   In this case, the "afquerymsg.txt" file basically just contains
"%QUERY". For a system with multiple uplinks, all of the scripts (which
already have the respective AKAs & password defined for whichever uplink
it is) all point to the same file for querys & for other common commands.
   For when I need to make changes to connected echos, I have similar
scripts that point to an editable file that contains the changes (for
$MSGTXT); then it only takes running the script (one key press, when
using something like mc) to post the netmail... (I also do similar
things with a BBBS & and an MBSE system...)
