Why in God's name was a convicted felon, suspected of mental illness,
allowed to care for three children?  She shouldn't even have been on
the frigging street, let alone a "primary parent."

What must a woman do to lose custody?  Assault someone with deadly
weapon?  No, apparently that won't do it.  Set fire to an inhabited
structure?  Nope, not that either.  Escape an arson penalty by reason
of mental illness?  Nope, not enough.  Apprently, someone has to die
before cowed politicians will finally admit that she's an unfit mother.
