I don't think there is anything in Windows that isn't scriptable. Did you
take a look at the web page (easily, by the way, the oddest page I've ever
seen) I referred to? It contained scripts to do filesystem, database, and
directory administration, among other things. It's script library includes
tools written in VBScript, JScript, Perl, Python and Rexx.

I know that is fairly easy to do things like create accounts and set their
properties, manipulate group memberships and security. File manipulation
is easily accomplished, as are reading/writing to the registry and Event
Log. Office products are also manipulable via scripting tools.

None if it is trivial, of course, but I doubt learning to script
administration of any system is trivial, at least for the likes of me. I
think that is part of the problem, too. Many Windows admins "grew
up" using GUI admin tools on single systems or small networks. They
simply don't have the aptitude to automate many of their administrative
tasks via script.

I don't know anything about Unix/Linux, so honestly don't know how Windows
compares. What kinds of administrative tasks are scriptable
in Unix thath you think may be unavailable to Window admins?
