Right now food stamps uses a credit-card-like card for paying for
groceries.
It's read by that reader in the checkout aisle.
And if the amount goes over what the person has in their food stamp
balance, the transaction is canceled.

Except conservative Christian politicians see chipping like they saw the
Social Security card, food stamps, and for that matter just about
everything else that involves proper ID as "the Mark Of The Beast."
That's where this Georgia bill comes from.
Right now I see no push at all for chipping humans, for one simple
reason.
Unlike cats and dogs, humans have pockets and purses.
