    Don't know what's going on with that;  I was just able to download the
package & open it up (in mc) to view the contents with no other problem...
How were you attempting to "fetch" it?   wget?   Lines in
/etc/apt/sources.list ?

    Note that I have a mirror of whats there, and I have also started
work on new packages (the ones at sourceforge are quite old, and
sourceforge frowns on archives in the web space anyway...) but have to
finish working on getting them back online again.  (Moved most everything
to a new server but don't have everything back online & working again...)

   The package can't find the version of Perl on your system that it
wants;  think the version available now (on both Debian & Ubuntu) is v5.8.
If you try getting the source packages instead & work with those, you may
have less trouble...  (If you need details on that, let me know...)
