I go to a clinic to pick up two drugs every 90 days. Of Those two drugs one is NOT covered by medicare part D. For the one that is covered I'd have to meet the minimum cash benchmark before it becomes _free_. Unfortunately that benchmark it set ABOVE the retail drug as purchased for a year. Not hugely above but still like $45.00 MORE than retail for the _free_ drug participation in medicare part D. This why I have never applied for medicare part D. One drug costs MORE in real terms considering the minimum cost that must be met before it's _free_ and the other isn't covered at all. I read and understood medicare part D before it was passed into law and knew out of economic and moral principles I would not be a party to that scam. BTW it was a month full of headaches to actually sort through the meaning of that bill and basically it's a givaway to the pharmacuticals industry and yet once again a hidden tax break for the rich who never have to deal with the "doughnut hole." It was as passed very bad legislation. Now had they set it up as is the government deal with the pharmacutical industry as regards to the Veterans Administration Hospitals with bulk purchase discounts I would have joined medicare part D. Like school vouchers it's just another scheme to pass along what is effectively steath tax breaks for the wealthy. ...
