Well i run multi-crossovers for alot of reasons, when i had all the amps 
patched into one crossover, when one amp clipped, the other amps emitted a 
slight popping noise which was enough to get through the subsonic filter and 
cause the cones on the speakers to slam into the front steel grilles on my 
yamaha 4115-II's.  With a balanced line i can push the mixer higher because i 
lifted the negative on the balanced xlr lines.  Makes the mixer go higher, 
and the amps clip exactly when i push or boost another 3db of say 40hz to 110 
hz when the mixer is 100 percent on the sliders (0db source fader, 0db master 
feed fader.  I don't use limiters or compressors yet and i have not lost a 
speaker in 3 years since i bought these original amps and cabinets.  The 
cleanest damn amplifier/speakers setup that i've ever heard from trapeziodal 
cabinet setups.  The highs are sweet and not grainy, and the lows and mids 
are all there.  The system sounds very good when the eq's are flat or 
bypassed.  I like this setup of mine because the voice coils do not get hot 
on these woofers unless i go over 125 percent of it's wattage ratings.  Each 
woofer in my dual 15 cabinets can absorb 500 watts of continuous music, and 
that includes the food for woofers cd's which i used to prove that other 
systems setup in clubs are not inferior to my setup after they managed to 
light up (catch on fire) a few carver amps running at only 4 ohms per 
channel.  If i need a slight boost because of the amp load, i simply go to 
the amp rack and plug in a null mono 1/4 adapter into the amps, this shorts 
the ring to sleeve, and the amps really pick up the volume without the fader 
being touched.
