 Drug and alcohol can set you up for a lot of things. Diabetes
 may well be a consequence of such abuse. After all, it is a
 failure of balance, and substance abuse can contribute to that.
 Or at least weaken you to the point where something else can
 weaken you more so that something else kills you.

 After all, diabetes doesn't really kill all that often, but sets
 you up for complications.

 Complications kill more than a lot of other things.
