That's several hundred more than I paid for a similar Dell system. =
Mine included a slower Pentium D dual core, same memory, same disk, =
better video, DVD writer, and more stuff plus a 20" digital flat panel

That's nuts. I just ordered a new system today:

Pentium D-3.4 GHz Dual Core System including:
  MSI 945PLNEO-F Mother board
  2 GB DDR2 533
  (2) WD 250 GB SATAII hard drive (7200)
  ASUS GeForce 6600LE 256 MB PCI-X DVI-I
Mid tower case with Cooler Master 550 watt Silent Power
  Sony CDRW/DVD Combo
  Integrated audio/Lan 10/100/1000

  Total: $1179 ea + tax

Geo. (the cd drive is for something else)
