A voice of reason, he's obviously been reading the same places I have and I
pretty much agree with everything he said except I'm a bit more sure the
total number of infections was <25K where he assumed <100K (actual
estimates I saw said 22,000) But it will probably be another week before
those reports get confirmed.

This worm was really amazing in one respect, it had a really really awesome
propogation engine. UDP (connectionless), 376byte packets, and being coded
in tight assembler code allowed it to pretty much flood out any pipe the
machine happened to be connected to so a single machine could take down a
DS3 or larger (I saw claims of single machines generating 80Meg of
traffic). I've never seen anything else generate those levels of traffic,
even flooders can't crank like that.
