Hi, Bob. BL> BL> BTW, I upset Frank last night when my old 386/20 worked the BL> BL> parallel ports as fast as his 486DX/50. BL> FM> Bullshit, I have no idea how fast mine works it, since I don't BL> FM> have a plutocratic CRO or freq meter. FIM. BL> I was running it with a "40" divider though, wasn't I? Don't remember, you've got it, see how low you can go before it stuffs up measuring it on the CRO. (For the others, the "divisor" is what the 1.8MHz timer tick is divided by to time sending the pulses to printer port bit 1.) It's limited by the time to process the interrupt routine on each tick. I *think* you should be able to get it down quite low on your machine, certainly less than 10, maybe 2-5. Maybe 1 on mine. I'd be interested to know how low you can go. BL> I've been using VB to send pulses out the serial port, and it's BL>fascinating! I can see why you'd like to run the train directly from BL>the computer; just amplifying the pulses. VB has a maximum baud rate BL>of 9600 (1070Hz for 8 bits plus one stop bit), and it's too slow BL>unfortunately. Yeah, the // port should be able to get over 100kHz on your machine, IMHO.
