Most modern processors AMD/Intel will sport dual core.

The Core 2 Duo, processor line is what was at the top of prominence of
Intels multi-core processors with 2 physical cores, what stands it apart
from a standard dual core is a faster frontside bus. Since the new
standards have been replaced by the Core i3, i5 and i7, you should be able
to pick up a mobo and a core 2 duo at a reasonable price, at least for
while.

The Core 2 duo and the Core 2 Quad core, preceeded the i series processors.
