From what I have gathered, VOCAL does not specialize in sex abuse cases,
rather they aid in cases of all varieties in which people have become Victims
Of Child Abuse Laws.
Here's a place to start. The Colorado VOCAL is among the more active in the
country, and may be able to direct you toward a local chapter. 303-233-5321.
Get on their mailing list for little more than the cost of printing and
postage.
They also publish, at their cost, a 500 page "Professional Manual" for use
both by yourself and your attorney. It has applicability in all 50 States. I
haven't seen it, but it is highly regarded in some circles. Cost is $50 plus
$6.00 postage.
They offer a "Due Process Manual" which promises a detailed explanation of
your due process rights, and a "Personal Manual" which promises "important
data and information to help you cope with the trauma of involvement with
child protection agencies," each at $20 plus $3.00 postage.
They also offer a video claiming to be a "high quality 25 minute educational
tool for politicians, system employees, and community meetings." $12.00 with
postage included.
That they have gathered something of an endorcement from the original
director of the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, (NCCAN), as well
as the ACLU does lend them quite some measure of credibility. I'd suggest
forgetting whatever you may have heard about them, and calling for first-hand
information.
