-=> Quoting Laurie Campbell to Dick Roebelt <=-
Hi Dick,
DR> I just wish everyone who has a web page would heed your advice.
DR> Save the graphics for the products and keep the main pages for data
DR> (which is why I am there in the first place).
LC> Since designing web pages is one of the services my company offers our
LC> customers, I was most interested in this advice, too. I thought it
LC> was all right on the money, but so well put and succinct that I copied
LC> it to keep as a handy reference tool. Often times customers want so
LC> many bells and whistles on their web pages that we know full well the
LC> page will have the opposite effect from the one they want, and if we
LC> do exactly what they say they will be disappointed in the results and
LC> never hire us to do that for them again. It's really difficult to
LC> explain why having too many graphics will be counter productive, plus
LC> arguing with a customer is a good way to lose a customer. I think the
LC> way the advice was worded will be extremely helpful in such no win
LC> situations.
I've been watching this echo fairly regularly recently, but since not all
mail gets through to me sometimes, I think I missed the advice you refer
to above. I would be most interested in reading it too, since I am just
about to take over the designing and updating of our church/school page.
Could you possibly repost for me (and others who may have missed it)?
Thanks very much.
Gary
