Oh my. Of course you realize that if you agree with me again, I'll
have to change my opinion. Please, don't make me do that.
Seriously, you're right. They are not ruling fairly, but it's a bit
difficult for them when they have to rule according to bad law. It's
my hope that they issued this ruling because they were staying true to
their function as interpreters of the law, and not de facto
legislators. Perhaps they expected that this would be appealed to a
higher court, and one with the authority to strike down the law as
unconstitutional. Perhaps the law will be struck. In any event, it's
a positive step if they ruled according to the law, and not their own
poitical ideas.
Does anyone know how high it has to get before the courts can strike
down a law? Steve? Are you out there?

And
Yes, and it's not that the Bay Eagles don't like women. It's just
that, sometimes we want a space where there are no women. Going to a
club like this is similar to engaging in a pick-up basketball game. It
gets a masculine vibe going, and if a woman comes around, it lessens
the vibe. That vibe is good for us. It's also good to have dates and
girlfriends, but I think a lot of men would prefer to compartmentalize
those two areas of a man's life. Sometimes it's Jeckyl and Hyde. One
wants to be the sensitive loving type when he's with his lover, but the
Spartan type when he's with the guys.

Oh yes, and women have shown themselves adept at creating women's
organizations, because they sometimes want to gather without men. Fine
with me.

It would be nice, but they generally aren't elected, so I'm not sure
what can be done. Ideally, they should just look at what the
legislators write. Then, we can dump the legislators if they write bad
law.
