i will ask you to recompile ALL in chroot from systemresquecd then, do a proper
chroot, and issue a emerge --sync, and then emerge -a1 --with-bdeps=y @system
thats it, remove any mac related fixes from you trying to keep old config while
new kernel try to remove userland configs in udev
if shorewall not working so what ?
recompile all in userland when its booted in latest kernel, if you belive 2.6
kernel is still stable you might rethink it
nothing in kernel needs python, nothing, but you have possible old initramfs
that have something build with old python versions removed in userland or have
more then one python-exec installed if so search bugs.gentoo.org for this
Regards Benny
... there can only be one way of life, and it works :)
