When your church does not teach
salvation by faith alone in Christ alone, you need to believe in Christ not
your church. Many churches profess to believe
salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone, but then tell people to be
saved by repentance plus faith in Christ.
This is the problem with that:
When people are told they are saved by their repentance,
they trust that to save them.
Trust divided between Christ and anything else, is not faith in Christ,
even though in things definitely to be done but never trusted to save, such
as repentance, surrender, baptism, church, sacrament, giving, endurance.
All trust must be on Christ so that he regards his own righteousness as
yours so that you have eternal life.
That is the Scriptural truth that Jesus showed the world to begin the
Protestant movement. Today that truth is hardly loved or heard. Those who
even hear about Christ not us being our righteousness for salvation, are
very fortunate indeed.
So also, those who hear that all trust must be on Christ alone for
salvation and absolutely no trust on themselves.
