Anybody got any good suggestions for removing bird blood stains from a
white cotton t-shirt? I went to help a friend clip her birds' wings and
nails today. One of her conures broke a blood feather we didn't know
he had, and gushed all over my irreplaceable Animaniacs t-shirt. It
left several large spots, and quite a few tiny ones where he flapped
and sprayed it around (and you should see her couch and living room
wall! YUCK!)
I used hydrogen peroxide on the spots as soon as I got home, and that
faded the blood a lot, but it didn't remove it all. I washed it, and
then tried to use straight bleach on the spots while it was still wet
from being washed. That faded the larger spots quite a bit, but didn't
remove them entirely. The bleach didn't touch the tiny spatter marks. I
then put stain stick on it and RE-washed it. It still didn't all come
out. I haven't dried it in the dryer yet--I can keep it moist for a
couple days by re-washing it with every load I still need to wash.
I'm convinced that bird blood is the WORST type of stain--I should send
this shirt to the detergent companies as a challenge! But I don't want
to give it up yet... In the meantime, does anybody know of anything else
I can try?
