Even if it's spam it should go into the junk mail folder which is not
emptied unless you have the "delete junk mail immediately" option
set. I don't think that is the default though. Sometimes I wonder about the
support in Hotmail though ( I doubt it's anything malicious).

As an example I sent Hotmail Support the following message several weeks ago
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
Hi
This is really not an abuse problem with Hotmail but it appears to be a
bug. I've noticed that any message I send to Hotmail with a subject line of
just the word "test" never gets to my hotmail account although an
identical message can successfully be sent to my other accounts. I figured
at the worst the message should be routed to junk mail. . see below for an
unsuccessfull message
........
---------------------------------------

I received the following message from Hotmail Support in response
--------------------------------------------
"I am writing in response to your inquiry on the unsolicited message
you've received. I know how frustrating on your part to receive such
unsolicited message but I assure you that we are doing everything we can to
rectify the situation.
However, I can't take action against this person because the mail was sent
from an outside source, not Hotmail. Therefore, I suggest that you use the
"Basic or Advanced custom filters".
