How you interpret Scripture will depend on what you believe brings eternal
life. Many of the Jews claiming to be the experts about Scripture do not
even know Jesus is Messiah. Many of the Catholics claiming to be the
experts do not even know salvation is by faith alone. Many of the
Protestants claiming to be experts do not even know Christ is the
righteousness for salvation. And those are the people that hundreds of
millions are believing for finding out what brings eternal life. Why not
believe Christ rather than man? Jesus showed the Scriptural gospel of grace
from heaven to the world so people could again have eternal life, and to
end the deception of the counterfeit church, and to begin the Protestant
movement: The moment we trust in Christ alone for salvation, he regards his
own righteousness as though ours, so that we have eternal life.
But today that gospel is hardly loved, cherished, or heard. It is
considered the older Protestant theology about the imputation of the
righteousness of Christ. So relatively few people even know that the
righteousness that is required for salvation is Christ and not ours at all.
That is why people generally suppose that the currently popular teaching of
salvation by surrender saves, even though it saves no one at all. But the
Good News is:  Those who place all their trust on Jesus Christ for
salvation, and absolutely none on their own resolve or efforts, are
regarded by Christ to have his own righteousness and so have eternal life.
