Yes. I don't even have the usual lib64 symlink found on most x86_64-* hosts.

I think so. Although initially it was a PITA to figure out, in the long run it
paid off and saves much disk real estate. Also it still can be used to build a
pure 32-bit system. I do that to kickstart the eeepc which vastly accelerates
the development on there. ;-)
