Concerning _Pro-2042_, Bill Cheek said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
TC>> (Not only do the employees recognize me by sight now, but some of the
TC>> other regular customers are starting to say hi to me when I walk in.)
BC> Oh oh. That is sad. Very sad. It may mean you are very sick, too.
BC> :-)
It may. Did I mention that I helped a couple pick out an antenna for their
scanner the other day, after the employee revealed she didn't understand the
question?
"You've got questions? We've got a cute little way of tilting our heads to
one side with a confused look like your dog the first time he saw you naked."
BC> That's the odd thing. Employees don't know beans about things like
BC> that, and are admonished and sometimes fired for prying too deeply.
BC> They are not supposed to know. The employee's job is to SELL, SELL,
BC> SELL.........
So I gather. The manager of the local Shack has told me things that he
claims would cost him his job if they got out. For instance, cluing me in
that a scanner I was looking at would be on clearance the next week. Or that
a scanner I was looking at would indeed pick up the CB band, and that I
didn't really *need* to buy a CB transceiver though he'd be happy to
recommend one.
The previous manager was even more helpful, giving me my first frequency list
(which I gathered he was supposed to sell me), recommending frequencies, and
praising me for buying a use Pro-43 instead of one of their newer handhelds.
Of course, he doesn't work there anymore...
