The problem here is, that you apparently misunderstood what they were
indicating.  You can indeed configure QmodemPro for DOS to utilize up
and download directories that are different from the QWK/REP directories
utilized by OLX v1.53.  However, doing so does not mean that QmodemPro
for DOS sends or receives .QWK mail packets to or from the separate
directories.  Your apparent belief that it should, is incorrect.  If you
wish your QWK/IN directory to be different from your QmodemPro for DOS
download directory, that's just fine and you can have it that way.
However, it necessarily means that after you download a new .QWK mail
packet, that it is also necessary for you to manually move it from the
download directory to the QWK/IN directory so that OLX can find it.
