I am now on to try to make better reinstall than the first one had of kernel
3.16.5 install and do it wit the lastest of it and now shall try to take things
by step by step and take the time on the kernel modules for netcards and
networking setup.
If one will make a fast setup of gentoo it is to first getting it finish and
use the alternative kernel build with genkernel and let it make the kernel and
then when gentoo can run without error and is on network and internet then
rebuild the kernel with menuconfig and add the ectra setup for new netcards and
processor + networking options for router and server use for settings as
iptables and firewall in kernel setup so this will work too for shorewall and
router.
The old gentoo profiles up to 3.x.x had the normal of 3 choices of profil
settings as 1. default, 2, server and 3. desktop profile, from 3.x is there
only 2 choices and it is default and desktop profile + some other profiles to
choose.

I think it is 217/218 and maybe 3.17 let see when I not got to this in my new
install doing.

I had tried out of something on my main fido host pc there now only like to run
with its new kernel for msged and I tried it out with use of the update compile
of kernel 'genkernel --oldconfig --no-menuconfig all' and got 3.17.7 but after
a reboot it started up but msged crach by it had mem error of to small mem for
it. I then tried to start golded but got the same error and remember when
golded hit of mem problem is it a mail problem of a bad echo there have to be
delete in /fido/msgb/ and then would golded run fie and is on to create a zero
file for the deleted echo.
Take care,
Gert
