Hey Nicholas!
NB> Okay, so then how do you separate each message into individual
NB> messages to read or reply to?
sed and gawk. That is done by another function.
NB> And the quoting, where is that done?
:::shudder::: I hate stinkin' quotes. Mind you yours are easy given that your
messages are formatted correctly. For a reply to you I call up gawk to output
the fifth field and then pipe that to "fold -s -w 67" which is then piped to
"sed 's/^/ NB> &/'" which tacks on your initials to the start of the line. The
quoting intitials are extracted from field 3 which is the "From" field. Also
the proper echo to pack to can be obtained in field 5 which is the first data
in that field (AREA:). I was thinking of making that it's own field but
haven't gotten around to it yet.
A piece of cake. :::yeah right:::
NB> Separate scripts? Or all manual?
It's part of the ftn_functions file. I thought we'd take this one step at a
time as it makes it much easier to troubleshoot. Also I wasn't expecting so
fast a response.
Did the unpack work? If so what do you think about the format of
new_messages.raw? I find it easiest to work with, is totally predicatable and
contains absolutely zero binary data. WeBeBashing totally agrees with me about
it although it could use some extra tweaking, the area thingy comes to mind.
Life is good,
Maurice
... Don't cry for me I have vi.
