Boy, now is that the furthest thing from the truth! "Liberal socialist
democrats" is the LAST phrase that I would use to describe the Scribes and the
Pharisees. They were self-righteous, hypocritical conservatives who didn't
give a hoot for the welfare of the common people. They held religious law like
a sword over the heads of the common people, and basically taxed them to death
via temple offerings and tithes. They were unloving and merciless...and a lot
worse according to Jesus' own words. Just read Matthew 23. Jesus really socked
it to those hypocrites.
