-> JO> And the BW packet from a DOS box will go to Windows Doc's Place?
-> They can go any place you want them to. I have "F:\BW\IN"
on one box,
-> but it might be on the H: drive.
JO> I understand the first sentence. One out of two...
The only stupid question, is one that never escapes.
JO> No wait! It's beginning to sing in...really. Honest, I AM paying
JO> attention.
In harmony, or discourse?
You're a lot of fun, John. Stick around so we can abuse you.
EVERYTHING is new, and no one should expect you to be an expert
overnight. Take your time with it, and more and more of it will make
sense. If you need to get out of a mess, you could do worse than a
fido guy to fix you up in no time.
I just moved my #3 machine, and now it doesn't want to boot Windows
with any grace. The machine was my only other fido working 'puter, so
now I have to rely solely on my #1. Just today, #1 had three bad cluster
writes that didn't match the journal entry, and directory
mismatches, and on, and on...
Being Linux, it dutifully asked if I wanted to correct it all, and
because the system was stone idle when it went down, I'm up
again. Now, it'll be the Hayes 28.8 facsimile/modem to throw a hairy
fit/meltdown, and it'll be SNAFU around here again. <-;
Thinking about it, #2 has been rather funky too. Time to dynamite the
mess, and start from scratch again.
-> I try to avoid any default Windows directory, as a default.
JO> And the Cretan said all cretans are liars...
Who you gonna believe?
JO> No, I understand. Your default is not the default because you have a
JO> default which it isn't. Right.
Close enough!
JO> When Windows blows itself up then, it doesn't
-> tend to take my BW and its folders with it.
->
JO> Not if but when? I think when I get BW I'm going to get back to you...:-)
JO> (I hope you are ready for "I forget. You put the what in
WHERE?" posts
JO> from me...)
Not a problem. Dumb looks still being free...
-> JO> The best place to d/l BW is __________?
-> Tucows? Goggle should tell you, if you search for "Blue Wave", or
-> "BWAVE", or something of the like.
JO> Damn. I KNEW that. I just wanted you to think I was stupid.
Good luck with that. Better men than me have tried. Thinking about it,
Dad pretty much wrote the book on that score too, so I'm pretty good at
spotting it.
JO> three or four times...
All it its own time.
-> JO> (Hmmm. I KNEW there'd be a trick to this...:-)
-> Patience grass-hopper. Patience!
JO> Patience hell, I need more brain! :-)
Can't help you there. I'm running a deficit as it is.
-> JO> Work arounds? Involving SOLDER, prob'ly :-)
-> Depends who you're trying to burn, and what kinda flux you want to
-> use.
->
JO> Solder-joints have long been my specialty...
Oh good. That pile of cords there...
"||: Wax on... Wax off... :||"
-> Are you pointing at 666.999? {-|[
->
JO> I'm not a point and barely understand what a point is.
->
Well, see? You at least have a notion of what a point is. Details on a
need-to-know basis.
JO> Hey thanks for taking the trouble. I have a feeling you'l be
JO> hearing from me...(Pleading and whining..."Hey I finally got a blue
JO> screen ...where do I get the wave?", that sort of thing.
No trouble. Pounding away at the keyboard keeps me from missing all
the chores I have piling up. If I didn't have you to poke with a
stick, I might poke my *own* eye out.
JO> Cheers!
Sorry, but I was trying to keep up to some seasoned drinkers earlier
in the day, so I'll save up for the next toast.
... Computer Hacker wanted. Must have own axe.
