Probably not. Probably to address compatibility concerns. Existing =
BIOS have options to disable NX and HT for similar reasons. There is no =
security benefit because any trojan that could install a virtual machine =
could change the BIOS setting.

Interesting that my new notebook has a BIOS option to disable the
virtualization capability of the CPU.
Probably as a line of defense against the VM trojans.
