| subject: | RE: Meet Bob Klahn |
~> EC> ~> That's not exactly what happened, Earl. The listing may or may not ~> EC> have ~> lapsed, ~> and I've no idea who listed it originally, but at ~> EC> the time of Klahn's comments ~> there ~> was no moderator of the ~> EC> echo. ISTR that Roger was first to list the echo with ~> himself as ~> EC> moderator - that in itself caused some adverse commentary - and that ~> EC> ~> may be the listing that lapsed when Lofaso briefly picked it up. ~> EC> You are usually more careful with facts, Bob. It is exactly what ~> EC> happened. From Jan. 12, 2007 to July 31, 2007, it was duly listed ~> EC> with Roger as moderator. And Roger was actively participating. I ~> EC> believe that Thom's automated email expiration-warning system was ~> EC> malfunctioning, because Roger did not get the routine warning before ~> EC> deletion. The listing expired on July 31. The new monthly list was ~> EC> made up and propagated around fidonet. Klahn posted his warning ~> EC> about how "nasties" are coming because someone commented in another ~> EC> echo that Lofaso was posting in Coffee-Klatch, and Lofaso grabbed the ~> EC> echo listing on August 12. I believe it was the SAME DAY as Klahn's ~> EC> post. ~> EC> You may have been misled by Klahn's twisting of the facts. He likes ~> EC> to conflate the August incident with his similar rant in the same ~> EC> echo in January of 2007. That has nothing to do with what he posted ~> EC> and what Lofaso did in August. ~> I beliueve that I was correct in stating that there was no moderator before ~> Roger listed it the first time. There was quite a bit of discussion WRT ~> whether or not one was needed and Roger listed the echo with him as ~> moderator. *That* is the listing that expired as you note above. Klahn's ~> comments about the 'nasties' predated that original listing. There was no e-listed moderator for a couple of years, after Bobby Queen's listing expired. Hardcore fidonet junkies will argue over whether the e-listing is "official" or not, but I don't much care about that and I doubt that you do. I was referring to Klahn's comments in August of 2007, and Lofaso's action of the same day. The fact that he made similar comments in January, let the subject drop after Roger listed the echo, and then RESUMED the matter just as soon as the listing expired just adds to the stench. ~> FYI I'm not the least bit interested in having my own personal echo or ~> in moderating one. I have been asked to co-moderate one echo and ~> declined the offer. That is fidonet's loss but your gain. Even when I created incredibly light rules, Richard and Klahn wanted to break them, and they both gave me crap over it. And now it survives simply as one of a half-dozen redundant echoes when there should be just one for political discussions -- especially now as fidonet dwindles down to just a few holdouts. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
