BL> 5. Seenby and Path space

RS> Just not possible, by definition they are variable length, you
RS> MUST have a storage mechanism which deals with variable length.

BL> You can put them on the end, as they are now,

Yes, there is only one viable way to handle them, a variable length
item coz they are variable length by definition. The only problem
with the current approach is that they dont have a totally standard
^A kludge name marking them.

BL> or you can fix the start and pad the end with something harmless
BL> like spaces.

Nope, by definition you can NEVER know what is the maximum you will
need to allow for. SO you have to have a variable length item for them.

Using your argument you could have a fixed field for user text too,
just pad with spaces and hope the archiver sucks them out. It will
too, but it aint a very practical approach now is it ?

BL> Lots of ways to do things, Rod...

Nope, just lots of ignorance of the fundamentals of data structure
design Bob.
