It was a bit of both.  I was hoping that by now someone would have
written an easy guide to setting it up.  I did get the fidoip-1.0.4
package, but the readme file in there is in Russian.  I have not tried
using it yet, but probably will this weekend.

It is a matter of moving away from a set of programs that I have used
for years to something new.
