Replying to a message of Jeff Snyder to TOM WALKER:
JS> Thanks to everyone who has been sharing information regarding the war.
JS> It has become quite obvious to me that some of you are a lot more
JS> versed concerning WWII, and American war history in general, than I
JS> could ever hope to be. Would I be correct to assume that some of you
JS> are in fact ex-military officers, etc.?
I retired from the AF as a Master Sergeant (E-7, equivalent to a Navy Chief
Petty Officer) effective on December 1, 1983. I have a about 24 feet of shelves
full of books on American history, not quite half of it contains books about WW II.
The pile includes both editions of 'The Codebreakers' in hard cover and an abridged
softcover edition, plus at least two of Frank Bamford's books about electronic
intelligence collection ("The Puzzle Palace" is the first), on
which he is an
acknowledged authority (and probably the only such outside of NSA).
