HI Steve,
Recently somebody mentioned putting new discrete caps "above decks" on
a PC board. (OK for AC-4 with cover, risky safety on AC-3). It's tough
to get new ones underneath the chassis in the limited space. I thought I
saw boards, bare & populated, offered on a website, but can't find that
now. I tried the 2 'best' ones:

On the latter, if you go to "tech tips, etc" there's a great article
"AC3 & AC4 Power Supply Troubleshooting, by: Mark Gilger /
WB0IQK" which
oughta give you a lotta help.

Subject: [-- and AC-4 rebuild ?'s
Will have to check ac-4 'caps eventually, but am considering a complete
overhaul or rebuild of p/s. I'm concerned that the 2 ac-4's I have are
getting a bit "long in the tooth", and the consequences of component
failure in the ac-4 could destroy 'tr4 components. As an offhand
question, is there anyone/business out there that is building and selling
ac-4 "clones" from the "ground up" utilizing new (not
"nos"),
contemporary components with "prevention" circuitry? Cost?!!
Presently, my time is at a premium, and if a reasonably priced, well
engineered/built unit is available I might spring for it. Tnx again for
all your help, Steve
